MangaMagazine.net Featured Promotion!

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 5, 2013, 11:08 AM

MangaMagazine.net Feautured Promotion!

For those of you wondering how my wacky adventures with the in-laws in Ehime ended... they ended with puking. Lots of horrible puking, and then death heartburn from the medicine I got from the hospital after I was hooked up to an IV all morning. What was I sick with? I don't know, but winding mountain roads and a plane ride home left me weak and powerless and quivering in a ball of pain all night. Today was less death-like, but still kind of "mmm...mmm?...mmm...." whenever I was asked if I was hungry. So... not fun, no. I would go as far as to say I had a bad trip, even. But I'll spare you all the rest of what happened.

Good news is, I got a promotion on MangaMagazine.net! I went from being a regular member to a featured artist in less than a month because the staff there are awesome. I'd been invited before to join the site but held out, but now I'm happy to be on there with FaLLEN and Suicide Consultant both up. Suicide Consultant is kind of a low-quality scan of a copy I made because I LOST THE ENGLISH FILES mysteriously a month or so back, and this is all I had. I'll be putting all but the first ten pages or so on my DA archive in storage in hopes people will go to MangaMagazine.net to read the rest-- and for those of you who have never read the fully toned version, this is your chance to do that! Especially since I am no longer printing this comic for sale at events, etc.

I will probably go in tomorrow or the next day and re-upload the pages in the FaLLEN section so that they are all single pages, rather than the double pages I post here and on my website. That way MangaMagazine.net will act as a mirror site that can be a nice alternative for people who don't like the  larger two-page formats. I think I said this before, but new pages will ALWAYS be posted on the official site (ogawaburukku.com/fallen) first, then here, and then I will post them a few days later on MM (usually on a Monday). I still want to encourage some traffic to my own page, you see.

One other announcement: I apparently got nominated for some sort of novel cover art award for the art I did on the English novel I, Crimsonstreak by Matt Adams. If you can figure out how to vote (because boy, it sure wouldn't let me...) and would like to vote, the link is here:

critters.org/predpoll/bookart.…

I didn't get credited by name (instead the author did) but that was me, and a vote would be appreciated!

I am still sort of sick so I'm running behind with FaLLEN and my commissions (so what else is new?) so I will update the list sometime this week. Now I need to go take American middle-class white people medicine, which is sprite and crackers. At least it doesn't give me heartburn...

Hmm, sprite and crackers? That's American white middle-class? :XD: Haha, my grandmother gave me that once when I was a child, and we were obviously not that XD (well, I'm light-skinned, she was darker-skinned...) Well, actually, it was 7-up, Sprite hadn't come yet to PR. Worked for me, and still works. Maybe coffee might help? My parents take that sometimes and it works for them too.

I find it vastly interesting that some of the nominees WERE properly credited ("cover by such and such") and others were the author, like in your case. I wonder if they got the info from the company or the authors themselves...still, you got nominated, yay!!

Gingerale is easier on the stomach. Also, Gravol is good too. I've heard that no one on the planet except Canada has it though. Hopefully Japan's got something like it. Liquid or capsule form, it makes the stomach hate you less. I use it all the time.

Very sorry to hear that you're sick. Seems everyone around the planet is. I swear it's some kind of epidemic. I'm sick again myself, to the point that I'm what I was pre-surgery. That shouldn't be possible. Hope you get better soon.

And I can't seem to vote either. Just keeps "loading".

I should have gotten gingerale, actually... growing up my parents always gave me Sprite, which isn't a drink I really like since I equate it with feeling shitty, haha. Japan has gingerale but not Gravol, I don't think. Never heard of that.

The doctor had no idea what I had, so maybe you have what I had, which seemed to be a mysterious 24 hour bug. Though I still kind of feel derpy... loss of appetite, don't want anything greasy to eat, and uh... well... I'm not visiting the porcelain throne as much as I should. I was definitely dehydrated all day Friday, but I think that's getting better.

Hope you get better too. And yeah... worst voting site ever. I couldn't get it to work because I failed the robot test every time. It says to write the author's name, but I get a whole list of books, so... which author??

When my sister traveled, she took both types of Gravol with her. The people in her tour had never been so grateful to her than when she gave them a pill, or a tablespoon of the stuff. I guess it really is Canadian only. And that sucks. I've been taking it since I was a kid, and it always works.

I think mine was food based. I was fine until supper. The flu that's going around right now, took me out for three days. That's great considering the majority of time it takes people out is anywhere between two weeks to a whole month. Glad you're feeling better, just hope it continues.

That site is an absolute failure.

I was kind of embarrassed that I didn't have any good artwork up yet for the cover, but hopefully I'll get that problem taken care of before the end of the month.

Thanks... I hope I feel better too, bleh.

ahah, but your inner pages more than make up for it ^_^ Can't wait to see the cover! I realized that I'd not done my cover right, so I went back and edited it recently ^_^;;

I voted for you. Rather complicated process, for a simple online voting. Had to include full name, email, do a weird little test to prove human, then go and vote through the email address again. I get that they want to make sure people aren't spamming votes but geez! But I still got the vote through. :P
