My fiancee heard from his bandmates, who run with a more influential crowd than we do, that the stuff with the nuclear reactors is far worse than they are saying here in Tokyo. For example, in Japan they say it is at level 4, when France and other countries are saying it's a level 6 crisis (out of 7). All the celebrities with money have fled to other parts of Japan or other countries. On top of that, we had another 6.0 earthquake hit nearby and that's when my fiancee kind of realized we need to get out. Before he was confident things would blow over, but not after yesterday.
Since Narita International Airport is completely packed with foreigners trying to go home, we are going to go to Ehime for a week or two to stay with the future in-laws. Ehime is in Shikoku, which has been mostly unaffected by the quakes and such. It's also far enough from Mt. Fuji that if it erupted we'd be okay. The ticket is also significantly cheaper than international next-day tickets and a one hour flight will be easier on my dog, who is probably going to have a heart attack from stress at age 1 if we don't do something.
I'll be away from internet until the iPad comes out on Sunday. In light of what's been going on, my parents thought an early wedding present was in order, so I'll have G3 and GPS in case something happens. I'll be taking all my art supplies so I can work on my comic, but again, no internet until Sunday.
I just wanted to post this in case something happens between now and Sunday, so you guys know if Tokyo sinks below the ocean I won't be drowning. Thank you so much for your loving messages-- most of you I recognized but some of you I think were new or usually are silent, and that means a lot. It really does. I wish I could do something for you guys for helping me get through this. I can't reply to all your comments since I have to leave for my plane before the blackouts start up again, but I'll update as soon as I can.
Also, I think it goes without saying, but the prize art for the people who placed for the FaLLEN contest are going to have to wait another month, like maybe May. I'm not going to have my computer or Photoshop for a while, I don't know how long. Sorry for the delay.
To all my friends in Japan, I hope you find a safe place, and I hope you are doing well.
